Suspension Presentation
Each 5 ml Contains:
Ofloxacin IP 50 mg
Ornidazole IP 125 mg
The combination of Ofloxacin and Ornidazole shows synergistic action to treat certain bacterial infections.
Indications
- Used to treat urinary tract infection
- Respiratory tract infection
- Used to treat ameobiasis
- In giardiasis
- In trichomonas’s vaginitis infections
About Composition
Ofloxacin:
Ofloxacin is second generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic it works by inhibiting the enzyme DNA gyrase and prevents the super-coiling and replication of the DNA of the bacteria
Ornidazole:
Ornidazole is belongs to synthetic nitro-imidazole derivative class and kills anaerobic bacteria and protozoa so that is why it is used to treat anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections
Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin:
Ofloxacin works by inhibiting the enzyme DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV of the bacteria which is similar to the human topoisomerase and thus prevents the super-coiling of DNA during replication or transcription.
Ornidazole:
It works by inhibiting the nucleic acid synthesis by releasing the nitro radical which binds with bacterial protein and thus disrupting the DNA of microbes.
